Access is a major concern for our target communities. Most of the communities are bereft of the most basic infrastructure such as quality Primary Healthcare, Basic Education, Clean Drinking Water, and access to strategic supports for sustainable livelihood. Current alternatives are either dilapidated, under-equipped, long distant, or ultimately unavailable for communities that need them the most.
With a projected population growth of over 45% by the year 2050 (400 million), the lack of commitment towards social and infrastructural development of indigent majority, the rising level of extreme poverty, the ever increasing rate of child and maternal mortality deaths, the growing rate of out of school children, amidst other concerns such as access to credit and capacity development for local communities to build sustainable livelihoods, puts our world on the verge of a major chaos.
Access to justice and to have ones voice heard and attended to is a critical aspect why we work. When people feel marginalized and deliberately neglected, it creates civil disillusionment and social disconnect. This leads to lack of common identity and character, and governance becomes self-centered, miopic and brutish in extreme cases, rather than public service and protection of rights.
